A direct cremation is also known as an unattended funeral service. This is a low cost option when compared to other funeral services. A direct cremation takes place at a crematorium with no family of friends in attendance. Your loved one may have expressed their wish to have a no fuss funeral with no attendance or it may be that this is what the family wish to have. Having a direct cremation allows the family to arrange to have a memorial service in their own time, this may be a celebration of the life of their loved one.

We will bring your loved one into our care, whether this is from home, a nursing home or hospital and arrange all the necessary paperwork to be completed. We will care for your loved one in a respectful, dignified manner and place them in a suitable coffin in their own clothes or gown. Unlike most funeral directors, chapel visits may take place but during office hours.

Once the cremation has taken place we will return the ashes to the family or arrange to have them scattered in the Garden of Remembrance at the crematorium.

 

Direct Cremation includes the following:

• Dressing in own clothes or gown

• Chapel visits accommodated in office hours

• Liaising with crematorium

• An oak veneer coffin fully lined and fitted

• Suitable vehicle on the day of the funeral and bearers

• Cremation at location of our choice and associated cremation fees. *we do not use national direct cremation companies**

• Collection of ashes from crematorium

*embalming can be carried out at an extra cost (£110) if required. 

**We can also offer a funeral service to be held at the funeral home prior to the cremation (we can accommodate up to 40 mourners)
